V-4 Laboratory for Culture Media Preparation and Sterilization

The Laboratory activities include preparation of microbiological culture media for other laboratories of the Veterinary Institute Vinkovci. The Laboratory also provides the services of washing and sterilisation of laboratory dishes, equipment and accessories; storage of media, additives, reagents, and strains; control of culture media; as well as removal and disposal of biological and pathogenic waste materials. All the procedures are recorded and the forms are kept according to prescribed SOPs.

The Laboratory is actively involved in the Quality Management System. The audit is conducted on annual basis by the Croatian Accreditation Agency.

The Laboratory has 6 employees: 2 veterinary medicine doctors, 1 technician and 3 auxiliary staff members.

In the course of 2007, the Laboratory was completely adapted and furnished with new equipment. Special attention was paid to avoid the crossing of “clean” and “unclean” routes and to have a sequence from the entry of dirty materials and vessels until the exit of clean ones.

The Laboratory has no commercial function and no contacts with customers, as it is actually a service to other laboratories of the Veterinary Institute Vinkovci.
