V-3 Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry and Residues

Laboratory for Analytical Chemistry and Residues conducts a wide scope of physical and chemical analyses in food and water aimed to determine their quality.
The Laboratory is accredited according to standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025. It holds all required licenses from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Regional Development, Forestry and Water Management, and Ministry of Health.

The Laboratory currently has five accredited methods:
1. Water quality – Determination of pH value, HRN EN ISO/IEC 10523:1994;
2. Animal feeding stuffs – Determination of crude ash, HRN ISO 5984:2004;
3. Animal feeding stuffs – Determination of moisture and other volatile matter content, HRN ISO 6496:2001;
4. Animal feeding stuffs – Determination of fat content, HRN ISO 6492:2001;
5. Animal feeding stuffs – Determination of crude protein content, HRN EN ISO 5983-2:2010.

Every year, expansion of the accreditation fields of particular interest for our customers is planned.

The Laboratory conducts physical and chemical tests on

·    foodstuffs of vegetal and animal origin;
·    honey;
·    animal food and raw materials;
·    drinking water;
·    waste water.

Analysis of foodstuffs is mostly conducted to determine: moisture, water activity, raw proteins, fats, ashes, collagen, nitrites, polyphosphates, carbohydrates, acidity level, milk fat, lactose, etc.
Honey analyses include determination of: water, electro-conductivity, minerals, insoluble part, total acidity, reducing sugars, saccharose, diastasis, hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF).
Animal feed analyses include, in addition to the basic parameters (moisture, raw proteins, fats, ash, tissue), also determination of calcium, phosphorous, sodium chloride, mycotoxins (aflatoxin, DON, zearalenone etc.), acetic, butyric and lactic acid in silage, etc.
In drinking water, the following is determined most frequently: pH, electro-conductivity, colour, opacity, temperature, residual chlorine, chlorides, KMnO4, ammonium, nitrites, nitrates, iron, etc.
In waste water, most frequent parameters determined are: pH, temperature, BPK5, COD, suspended matter, total oils and fats, mineral oils, anionic and cationic detergents, settling matters, total nitrogen, total phosphorous, sulphates, etc.
In agreement with our customers and depending on their needs and requests, the Laboratory may conduct other tests as well.
The Laboratory also interprets the results in the analytical report in compliance with the applicable Ordinances and declarations.
In the course of 2006, the Laboratory moved into the new, adapted premises, made in compliance with all rules of profession and equipped with the state of the art laboratory equipment.
The Laboratory has five employees, out of which three graduated engineers and two technical associates.
