The preparations for accreditation of methods at the Croatian Veterinary Institute laboratories started in 2005. The assessors of the Croatian Accreditation Agency conducted the first assessment of the Croatian Veterinary Institute laboratories in September 2007 and the first accreditation was obtained on 15 May 2008.

Currently, the Croatian Veterinary Institute has 195 accredited methods according to standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007. The headquarters have 94 methods accredited in 14 laboratories, and the branches have 101 methods accredited in 15 laboratories.

The accreditation of methods according to standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007 means that the methods are standard and validated (verified), that every step in the implementation of the method is traceable and controlled and that inter-laboratory proficiency testing has been successfully conducted.

Quality Managers of the Croatian Veterinary Institute are responsible for all activities related to the quality management system according to the foregoing standard.
