Z-II.3. Laboratory for Mastitis and Raw Milk Quality
Laboratory services include:
· laboratory and field diagnostics of mastitis;
· taking part in drafting and implementation of udder health protection and safe milk production program;
· determination of hygienic quality, chemical composition of raw milk and qualitative determination of contents of inhibitory agents.
Among other activities, the Laboratory conducts testing of functional and technical condition of milking equipment and production of a mastitis reagent.
In addition to the above listed professional activities, the Laboratory is involved in scientific research activities related to milk gland health and milk quality.
The Laboratory is actively involved in the implementation of the Decree on measures for animal protection from infectious and parasitic diseases. According to the Decree, the samples delivered for testing are secretion samples from herds with more than 400,000/ ml of somatic cells in milk samples from farms and udder quarters responding to a mastitis test.
